Certified Ski Associate Instructor

Role

 Certified Associate Ski Instructors are similar to Certified Ski Instructors.
Therefore, they must be able to handle all the techniques necessary for skiing. Emphasis is particularly placed on the ability to teach, help develop the basic motor skills, and apply them.

Qualifications for the examination

 Qualifications for the examination shall be those who meet all of the following requirements.

① Must be a registered member of the federation and be at least 18 years old as of April 1 of the year of the examination.
② Those who have passed the Level 1 test (including those who have obtained prizes) in the previous year.
③ Those who have completed the ski instructor training curriculum sponsored by a qualified organization by the time of the certification test, and have been certified by the training course completion report (valid for 2 years for basic theory and teaching practice, and only for the year of examination for practical training).

Training Course

(1) 43 hours of training in total
 (28 hours of group training, 15 hours of independent study)
 ① 15 hours of basic theory
 (6 hours of group training, 9 hours of independent study)
 ② 6 hours of practical instruction
 (2 hours of group training, 4 hours of independent study)
 ③ 22 hours of practical training
 (20 hours of group training, 2 hours of independent study)

(2)Those who have completed the training course will receive the Training Course Completion Report for certification.

Contents of Certification

(1)There will be a total of 8 practical skills tests–4 in the basic course and 4 in the practical course.
 ① Basic Course – Skills tested
  ○ Snowplow turns / gentle slope, level ground
  ○ Development of sliding pulled turns to basic parallel turns / gentle slope, level ground
  ○ Basic parallel turns, small turns / medium steep slope, natural
  ○ Development of skidding / medium steep slope, natural

  2.Degree of application to the movement procedure
    speed and rotation arc
  3.Quality of the movement
    Balance, rhythm and timing

  The examiners will judge your performance.

 ② Practical Course – Skills tested
  ○ Stem turn / medium-steep slope, natural
  ○ Parallel turn, large turns / steep slope, natural
  ○ Parallel turn, small turn / medium-steep slope, rough terrain
  ○ Comprehensive downhill, rhythm change / comprehensive slope, natural

  The examiners will judge your performance.

(2)Theory Test

Pass/Fail

(1)Your score is the average of scores awarded by the 3 examiners. To pass the Practical Skills Test, you must score at least 75 points (rounded to the first decimal place).
(2)A student shall pass the Practical Skills Test with a total of 600 points or more. To pass the Practical Skills Test, you must score a total of at least 600 points, provided that you passed at least 3 out of 4 skills of the Basic Course and Practical Course。
(3)The theory test is worth a total of 200 points, and a score of 120 points or higher is considered a passing score.

Overall Judgment

The overall evaluation is based on the passing of the practical skills and theory.

Certified Ski Instructor

Role

 Certified ski instructors should be able to handle all the techniques required for general alpine skiing and offer an enjoyable skiing experience.

 

Qualifications 

 Those who meet any of the following qualifications are eligible to take the examination.

(1)Those who meet all the following requirements
 ① Those who are registered members of the SAJ and are 21 years of age or older as of April 1 of the year of the examination.
 ② Those who have been certified as an associate ski instructor for at least 2 years (not including the year of certification) and still have the certification.
 ③ Those who have completed the ski instructor training curriculum sponsored by affiliated organizations at the time of the certification test, and have been certified with a training course completion report (valid for 3 years). Candidates who will complete the training course in the year of the examination must submit a copy of the training course completion report at the time of registration when you take the examination.

(2)Those who have won 3 or more prizes in competitions, such as All Japan Championships (excluding Masters and Juniors) with the exception of the Technical Championships, FIS sanctioned competitions, and the National Sports Festival, and those who have participated in the Winter Olympic Games must submit a special recommendation form by the end of October, upon the recommendation of the head of the member organization, even if they do not have an associate ski instructor qualification. With the approval of the Board of Directors of the Education Division, they will be able to take the skiing examinations of the relevant year.

(2) Theory Test

Pass/Fail

(1)To pass the Practical Skills Test, you must earn at least 80 points or more, based on the average (rounded to the first decimal place) of the 3 judges.
(2)To pass the Practical Skills Test, you must earn a total of at least 640 points or more, provided that you passed at least 3 out of 4 skills of the Basic Course and Practical Course.
(3)he theory test given a maximum 200 points, you must earn at least 120 to pass the test.

Overall Judgment

The overall evaluation is based on the passing of both the Practical Skills and Theory tests.
